Related: About this forumUpdate: Morgan the kitten is finally EATING!! I am so relieved!
For anyone who missed it, Morgan didn't even touch a morsel of food, this morning and has just been acting a bit 'off'. I've been in a state of worry, all day. We all just woke up from a nap and she walked over to an empty food bowl and sniffed around. So, I JUMPED UP and grabbed some dry food, which she and Madoc are currently consuming. Hopefully she'll dig into her actual dinner, tonight.
Many thanks to those who reassured me she was probably fine - just having one of those days. Also, hopefully the next vet visit will be next week, for their next vaccinations.

(26,320 posts)I think because this is such new pet territory for me, I worry far more than i should.
And, thank you! I'm so determined to raise these kittens to be wonderful companions, to themselves, Sophie, and to me.

(14,651 posts)I'm so proud of little Morgan and you! Sometimes all it takes is a change in weather or routine or just some little thing that puts them off, depending on how sensitive they are.
We have a little trick that's worked well for us over the years: baby food. Get the tiny stage 1 jars of chicken or turkey (the brand that only has the meat and broth, no corn or onion). Most cats love it. If they won't eat anything else, they'll eat that. No worries if it's just one missed meal. But more than that, try the baby food. If they go for it, try a little dollop on their food.
Of course, all the cats we currently have will eat anything that doesn't eat them first pretty reliably, so the baby food companies aren't making any money off us these days.

(26,320 posts)She didn't eat a WHOLE lot but she did eat. Right now she seems to prefer dry food so I just put some dry food in a jar that I'll keep handy.
And she's definitely far more active - almost up to her usual mischief level.
I'm just in mysterious territory, here, because I've never had kittens this young, let along any I rescued from my garden!
Kittens go through a lot of changes. Sometimes it seems like they'll eat everything in the county! Then all of a sudden, they grow. Then they don't seem to want as much for a little bit.
Even my adults go through stages. My 7-year-old was ravenously hungry today. As long as no one completely stops eating, we're good with it.
Dry food is what we call "cookies" around here. We only give it in limited amounts, but they surely do like it!

(3,275 posts)Beechnut stage 1. I keep on hand for those off days. Works like a charm. Beechnut has turkey, chicken, and beef.

(14,651 posts)Except that I never use beef. Not sure why.
Maybe just that I don't normally feed those flavors. Who knows? They keep us guessing all the time, don't they?

(3,275 posts)Favorite flavors are beef and rabbit. She prefers turkey over chicken. Chicken is her Least favorite flavor of anything.

(14,651 posts)Kitten is allergic to chicken and turkey, so I hope she never stops eating!
Mine all prefer turkey over chicken, and rabbit over turkey. But I just don't feed beef.

(26,320 posts)She was so quiet, all day. Now she's playing with her toys and with her brother.

(57,073 posts)And I begin to wonder if she's ok. She is a real chow hound.
But the next day, she inhales it.

(26,320 posts)Maybe yesterday's flea bath stressed her out, more than I realized. Hopefully it was the last one. I'm steam cleaning rugs and furniture and combing them throughout the day. Then I'll turn to the vet for his expertise.

(22,853 posts)If she's been doing a lot of grooming and her appetite is diminished I'd treat for a hairball.

(26,320 posts)I'm so relieved, I just can't stop picking her up and kissing her, this afternoon. Hope I don't develop any hairballs!!
