Related: About this forumThread for Siwsan
She has brought so much joy into this group and our lives with her cat posts over the years.
I remember her Sophie posts from way back, when our Sophie was still alive.
Now to suffer two losses in a day is just too much, and not a fitting reward for her loving care of them. I'm sitting here bawling over cats I only met over the internet. Yet, they touched my heart and I know they did many others.
Thank you, Siwsan, for all you do for the animals. If I could make the pain go away, I would. Take comfort in the fact that they had wonderful lives with you and you gave all you could.

(7,584 posts)I know the pain of not being able to save them all, no matter how much love and attention we give them. It doesn't lessen the hurt. You do the angels work here in this world, Siwsan, remember that. And remember how many animals owe their lives and homes to you. While it won't make up for the little ones you've lost, it might bring a smile here and there thru the worst of the tears for now. And remember how much you are loved.

(47,940 posts)I gather a couple of her kitties died. So unfair after all the care she's given them. I hope she realizes how much good she did for them while they were alive. They would have had such a hard life without her.
Heartfelt condolences to Siwsan.

(3,575 posts)I've only recently come to DU so I don't know all her history. Judging by what I've read from her in the past few months, she is a very special person.
Over the years I have lost two cats -- one badly injured by a car, one with spinal degeneration. Those were some of the saddest days in our household.
We could use more "crazy cat ladies" like Siswan!!!
And if it's any comfort to you, Siswan, the kitties you lost were better off for having met you, even though is was only a short time.

(6,749 posts)Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

(476 posts)Over 50 years we have rescued 11 cats and four dogs from the streets. Most of them have lived long lives 15 to 18 years. A few we lost early to cancers/disease. We also have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. We have always called our cats and dogs their brothers and sisters. It is so hard to lose a little friend who expressed love to you. I still expect or last dog, who has been gone for three years, to put her nose through the fence when we come home and do the dance of joy. I am so sorry for your lose.

(89,309 posts)The one thing I hate about our furry little friends is - they just don't last us very long, dammit. We recently lost the last of our L.A. cats, so I can both sympathize AND empathize. It NEVER gets easier. I guess you just take the love as it comes, and give love back as much as you can. Life is so fleeting - especially for the four-leggeds we love.
Dammit.
Btw - for whatever it's worth, today (Saturday the 16th) is/was Global Cat Day.
