He ran into the 'powder room' where I had forgotten to close the lid to the toilet. And, yes, he automatically jumps up on that seat, so my bad. Fortunately the water was 'clean' and he made a rather fast exit. I won't forget to close that, again. He got a good cleaning with sanitizing wipes.
It reminded me of the time Sophie Stinky Toes too a soaking. It was right after an extended power outage. I had filled the bath tub with water I was taking from the sump hole so I'd have water to flush the toilet (it was a really long outage). When the power came back on I was busy with all kinds of stuff and completely forgot about the bath tub. Well Sophie had a habit of jumping into the dry tub to look down the drain hole so she automatically did her leap. I heard a loud SPLASH and looked just in time to see her doing a very cartoonish scramble to get OUT of the tub.
Last night I FINALLY got my car back from the mechanic. Now to get the windows scraped of frost and the car heated up so I can FINALLY take him to the vet for his next vaccination and another flea treatment. I'll be extra kind to him, for the rest of the day.

So glad that you finally got your car back. Give the boy a hug from me, and safe travels.

(28,264 posts)even to the barn to feed cattle. She was young at this time, maybe six months old. She was curious about everything, and on this very cold November morning, she happened to get curious about the big steel stock-watering tank. As Dad walked past it, she jumped up to the rim (about 30 inches off the ground), and immediately discovered that, being steel, it had no place for her little claws to grab hold. So over and in she went, with a big splash! That water was just barely above freezing! At this point, all she can do is "dog-paddle" (How humiliating!) and hope--no way she would be able to get herself out of that tank. Fortunately, Dad heard her hit the water, came over and fished her out. He took her to the house, set her by the fire, dried her off and got her warm again. Happy ending. But if Dad hadn't been there, it wouldn't've been. Later Mom told people our cat was a Baptist b/c she had been immersed.

Took me hours to find her, soaking wet under the sheets of my bed, as I was getting into it.
I never saw her drink from there again.
