A first time, peaceful co-habitation of my lap. I think today is going to be a really good day.

(9,273 posts)I have 2 brothers who get along fine but do NOT share me. If Charlies on my lap and Andy jumps up, Charlie leaves. They sometimes cuddle together but not on me.

Here's hoping they will both grow strong and healthy in their forever home. Madoc is looking really good.

(26,289 posts)Since those who are complaining don't frequent the Pets forum they wouldn't know the back story and why it touched so many. Maybe that info would make a difference, maybe not, but honestly, I can't control who and/or how many recommend one of my posts. They should voice their complaints to those people if they are so bothered.
The kittens are REALLY having fun playing, tonight, so photos are impossible. But I'm going to work on getting some more posted, tomorrow.

(6,207 posts)If...IF they were in a Pets or Cat Forum you would never have heard from me. They show up in Trending Now.
Sorry, I do not dislike cats but I try and stay in touch with the assault on or Democracy.

(26,289 posts)I don't begrudge that it's there.
I come from a family that has served, constantly, pretty much since the founding of the nation. Including me. I'm still able to enjoy recreational posts. I love the diversity of topics on DU, but that's just me, I guess.

(6,207 posts)Apparently, there must be a workaround. I have blocked several of them from those that take a news clip showing it then comment on it THEN advertise for you to support them thru Patreon.
I have never entered the Pets group. The cat posts we speak of are in the Trending Now.
ShazzieB
(16,511 posts)Trending now is NOT a "group." It's an aggregation of items from any and all groups all over DU items that are getting lots of activity and recs. Siwsan's cat posts are showing up there BECAUSE they are very popular and greatly loved by lots of DUers.
Again: Siwsan is posting these in the Pets Group. If you're reading this, you ARE reading in the Pets group--surprsise, surprise!
JudyM
(29,274 posts)and are most rapidly gaining interest. Trending Now is not actually a forum folks can choose to post to, if thats what you may be thinking. Siwsan is actually posting in the Pets group.

(6,207 posts)I don't dislike cats, but I also am not interested in blow-by-blow descriptions about any pet. Just like my relatives are not interested in re-seeing pictures from my last vacation. Or the first, second, third....12th version of the newest fly I am tying with my hobbies.
I have never intentionally gone to the Cat or Pets forum.
I have tried to block posters (usually) those that post a news clip, comment on it, then ask for financial support. It seems to work for a while, then somehow they find a workaround, and those posts start showing up in the video forum. You will likely know some of those.

(4,639 posts)It's that easy. Plenty of other posts will be to your liking. It's a welcome diversion for others.

(16,511 posts)1. Find one of Siwsan's posts and click on her name to bring up her profile.
2. You will see a row of tabs across the top.
3. Find the tab labeled "Ignore" and click on that.
4. On the next screen, click "full ignore" (on the right hand side of the screen.
After you do this, you will never see anything Siwsan posts, about cats or anything else. You can do this with anyone on DU.
Hope this helps.

(16,511 posts)They show up in Trending now because they are VERY POPULAR. If you don't want to read them, don't click on them! Easy-Peasy!
The ironic thing is that, although you didn't seem to realize it, when you clicked on Siwsan's post, you were taken to the Pets Group. So you actually posted a comment in the Pets Group telling someone not to post about her Pets! That's why you got such a negative reaction.

(26,289 posts)the paperwork on Gryff shows a birth date of 7/9. I found the Madoc and his siblings on 8/8 and they were a month old.
Gryff is a little bigger, but not by much. Madoc most definitely wins first place in the feisty category.

(16,511 posts)I'm sure these boys are going to be great friends.
I got a little sidetracked for a while by the people who were complaining about all the cat posts, not realizing they were doing it in the Pets Group!
It made my blood boil at first, until I realized they were just confused. Now I can relax and enjoy the sweet kitty pics. *sigh of contentment*
Siwsan
(26,289 posts)Maybe I'm too pragmatic, but complaining takes so much more energy than just ignoring. And if someone has been a member of DU for even a few months, the way the trending category is populated - well, it isn't rocket science. Something else was going on there, but I'm not going to waste any more time trying to figure it out.
I can't see the kittens, right now, but I can hear them. I suspect there's another kitten 'battle royale' going on. Madoc LOVES to wrestle so I'm sure he's thrilled he's got a new opponent. In a few minutes they will be back on the bed, competing for my attention.
