Related: About this forumHopefully this is just a phase Gryff is going through because I'm REALLY getting sleep deprived
Wednesday morning he woke me up at 12:30, just wanting some attention. His way of asking was to roll on me, head butt me, sit on me and walk across me. I did finally settle him down and got a little more sleep.
At 2:30, this morning, there was a repeat performance. I finally turned on the TV, and Madoc made an appearance, settling down on me. That seems to have signaled Gryff to settle down and both fell back to sleep. Me? Not so much. I really can't sleep on my back.
He is such a sweet heart, I can't get mad, although I admit to getting a bit frustrated. Maybe I'll have them both do some extra playing with the cat teaser, tonight, and wear them down. I've got a whole lot to do, tomorrow, since family is stopping by for dinner.
The only other solution is shutting both out of the bedroom and I have NO doubt that wouldn't end well.

(57 posts)I often wake up sore and in pain, from the postures I must adopt, to not roll over her.
And yet, if she is not touching me, I get concerned, and wake up to see where she is.
I dont know why our pets have not staged a coup on us humans already. They own us.

(131,236 posts)Cats are nocturnal anyhow, and kittens have almost infinite energy. You don't want to shut them out of the bedroom unless you want to hear the song of their people all night.
But aren't they just adorable?

(27,891 posts)It's funny - the things that would have really irritated me now just make me laugh. I'm cleaning the bathroom vanity top and Madoc plops right down in the middle of the work area. I'm re-filling a liquid soap container and his nose is right in the midst of things. Except for when I'm running the vacuum cleaner, he has to be right by my side, getting in the way more often than not. Yet I just smile and adapt.
I credit aging and proper medication.

(27,891 posts)Gryff never gets in the way but then he might be tired from keeping ME awake all night!
Seriously, most cats are successful self-feeding.
Sounds like they are quite active, so why not?

(27,891 posts)They get pretty animated when I'm fixing food for the ferals. I always have to give them some, too. And it distracts them long enough for me to get out the door before Madoc pulls his attempted escape routine.
They both fully understand the phrases 'Are you Hungry?' and 'Do you want a snack?'
I should do that, now. They are both lounging and it never fails to pretty much levitate them.
shutting cats out of the bedroom in the past. My experience was not great. Lots of cat crying and scratching at the door. We decided when we adopted our current cat no more locking them out of the bedroom or putting them in another room and closing the door. It just doesnt work for us or the cat. Good luck.

(27,891 posts)These two are so quiet (unless they are in crates, in the car) but that might just awaken their inner 'yowls'.
It's funny, too, because before this, Gryff liked to sleep by himself, usually under the bed. Madoc always curls up next to me. Sometimes he wanders off but as soon as he hears me stir, he comes running back to the bed.

(114,685 posts)So, I'd guess wearing him out during the day may be your best bet (and perhaps feeding him later closer to bedtime.
Dogs, fortunately, are not. My last two used to go upstairs to bed when they got tired--without me! (at least the bed was warmed up when I joined them).

(27,891 posts)They just seem to always want to be near me. They will spend some time off somewhere snoozing or playing, but most of the time they are in what ever room I'm occupying and if I'm sitting, they are sitting on my lap. The one other place they like to sleep is on a lap blanket that I use.
I know they will be tired after the company leaves, tomorrow night. Madoc LOVE to interact with anyone who comes by but Gryff is still a bit shy. However, if someone has a cat teaser, he's all in. I'll encourage the cat teasing.
