Puppy update! Maybee's first big girl hike.

We went up into Pattee Canyon…we have a friend who owns a chunk of property that we’re able to access to run ourselves and our dogs. I can’t take Maybee on public trails until she’s fully vaccinated in about 3 weeks. It was a bluebird day here in western Montana. The kind of day that makes us think spring is close but we know better. The witch of winter has a few more tricks up her sleeve I’m sure. However, Maybee is the BEST girl…she stays close and is such a good listener. I’m considering training her to sniff out antlers. She’s got a great nose.

7. Good eye! She's 100% border collie.

Her mom was red/white and her dad was black and white…both parents work on a cattle ranch in the Bitterroot Valley. I’ve had border collies my whole life, all black and white. Maybee is the first tri-color I’ve had.

11. Are there dogs that are trained to hunt antlers? I

always wanted a dog that could hunt morel mushroom's.

13. Yes! She'd dogs are definitely a thing.

And, I believe a dog can get trained to sniff out whatever we want them to…morel dogs…now THAT would be fantastic.

15. Really,.. sniff out anything,... how's about 24 carat gold ?

Imagine taking a dog out for poop walk,.. then coming back home with 10 bars of solid gold bullion. I'd even clean up the dog poop if the dog walk turned out that lucrative.
