It was a TREACHEROUS trek to feed my outdoor fur babies, this morning!

I hadn't planned on the usual feeding time because of the weather. BUT when I opened the curtains, there was Mittens the Kitten. If she can take it so can I.

Yesterday was in the 50's and last night it was in the 40's with rain, so much of the snow is melted and ponding on the frozen ground. Now the temps are dropping and the rain is changing over to a wintery mix so my snow path turned into a wet ice SLICK. I walked next to it, which wasn't much better. I saw Spooky at the front of the house, which rarely happens, so I guess she was on 'watch' duty, this morning, to sound the alarm that food is on its way.

I made today's mix a little heavier on the wet food because the weather is SO miserable. The precipitation, right now, is pretty light so they should be able chow down, with no problem.

This year I'm determined to replace that wooden back step with a concrete one so I don't have to deal with swollen lumber blocking the door from opening, every Winter. It is SO much faster, easier (and safer) to be able to use that back door!

I really hate Winter.

Not so much because of what's going on now, but the unknown of what might happen this afternoon.

Right now, it's hard to find someplace that isn't an icy mess, right now. The deck is an ideal place for the bowls but it's no easier for me to get to, right now.

Maybe I'll find a spot along side of the house, for now.

And it was a real pain.

My door was swelling up and blocking the opening. I fixed and sealed the door. I used a wood hardener and sealer. Those wood products now a days are amazing. It's so nice to open the door smoothly even in the rain. Maybe just sanding and sealing will work. Concrete stairs are not cheap.

And the timing couldn't have been more perfect for Madoc and then Gryff to become part of my life. The amount of affection the show me is so wonderful. AND now that Gryff is getting over his fear of strangers, other people can see what a special little panther he is becoming.
