There was a time I could set the table in the morning, when I'm hosting the family Sunday dinner

Those days have passed. At first it was just the plates and silverware that waited. Apparently now it is also the pad and table cloth. They're lucky they are so cute.

6. I'm wondering how Gryff is going to react to 5 extra people in the house

He's getting better at somewhat engaging with others but this will be the most guests, yet.

Madoc will, of course, be in the thick of things. He LOVES the attention.

3. I had just nuked the last bowl of a batch of chili I was proud of and put it on the table.

I was just getting some bread to go with it when my cat Silver made a run at the table. She launches herself and it might have been okay, except for the papers I had out next to my chili. She hit those and skidded full speed in the bowl and knocked it flying! It hit the back of my chair and somehow managed to land with about 2/3 in the bowl at least. At least I got to eat most of it after cleaning up the mess.

4. I'm going to put some of that skid stopper webbing between the table and the pads

And probably between the pads and the table cloth, too.

9. I bought a pack of those little white balls with holes (I think practice golf balls?) for him.

He LOVES them. He chases them, bats them around and the picks them up and brings them to me to toss, again. I think he can be lured into playing with those, despite the 'crowd'.

If it turns out that he really cannot handle ccrowds, you might want to try "Quiet Moments" a melatonin supplement for cats. I get it at Petco, and use it when there is a lot of noise or activity around (my guy hates wind and such). The tablets are soft, and you can crumble them into wet food.

With the table set with a nice tablecloth and all the holiday dinnerware - and Charlie or Andy (or Freddie or Riley if it’s an old pic) curled up napping on a platter or in a serving dish. DH won’t let me set the table the day before anymore, knowing SOME people might not appreciate the cats’ approval of the place settings.
