Apparently Madoc's 'let mom sleep' behavior is on hiatus

The pouncing commenced at 3:30. It was relentless.

I tried scolding. Yea, I know every cat parent is laughing at that waste of time. I ended up 'removing' him from the bed and managed to doze off.

He started, again, at about 5. More scolding. This time he backed off and I fell back to sleep.

Then he changed tactics and started making sweet kitten noises and offering sweet kitten kisses. I told him he's still in trouble so he curled up next to me and groomed.

Gryff watched all of this from the sidelines. He's not much of a protection panther but at least he doesn't join in the mayhem.

At 6:30 I asked Madoc if he was hungry. Instead of jumping up and running to the kitchen he showed me his classic sad kitten face. It kind of communicated 'Well, I'm not sure I deserve it but if you are offering, I'm hungry.'

The pouncing has ceased.

Have you tried putting him out of the bedroom and closing the door? Sanity Claws Feb 2022 #1

He would start meowing but at least he would associate being put out of the bedroom with waking you up in the middle of the night. It has a better chance of working than giving him attention, which he may consider positive reinforcement.

He's been so good, for a while. Maybe the whole 22222 number thing and approaching rain just triggered his inner imp.
