Related: About this forumAn hour after finishing their breakfast I caught the kittens licking the empty kibble snack bowls
Less than an hour, actually. So kibble was added to the empty bowls.
I went to buy more kibble on Sunday but the store had NO kitten kibble, in any price range, so I bought a bag of 'complete nutrition' kibble that is supposed to be good for all ages. Still, I'd rather they get kitten specific kibble so I'm heading out in today's monsoon to, hopefully, buy several bags.
They seem satisfied, for now, but I am going to be adding another kibble/pate feeding to their schedule. (The BIG problem is keeping the big boys from gobbling down the kitten's kibble snacks.)
Anyway, here's a picture of the ravenous beasties.

(26,257 posts)There were LOTS of other adult cat dry foods and even a big variety of wet food for kittens.
We have a nice, locally owned pet store that is very close. I'm going to check there, too. I used to be able to get 5oz cans of Chicken Soup for the Soul kitten pate but they haven't had it in stock, lately. I wish more cat food companies made the bigger cans of wet food for kittens.
But, yea, if this continues to be an issue I am going to give Chewy a try.

Felis domesticus or Homo sapiens, same-same.

(1,523 posts)So-- the big boys keep eating the kittens' chow?
I'm 77 and there's been at least one cat in my household since I was a toddler. Seems as though there's a simple solution: At kitten feeding time, snatch up the big boys, toss them unceremoniously into another room of the house and close the door. Of course, they will complain, yowl, scratch at the door, bitch and moan, and upon release they will stalk around, haughtily, acting as though they are oppressed and aggrieved . . . they will get over it.
Just a suggestion.

(15,088 posts)I started them with wet food on a hobbit schedule breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies, lunch, tea, dinner, and supperbut Ive cut back on that, so now only four meals of wet food. They get either a can of kitten Fancy Feast thinned with kitten milk replacer or they get a jar of strained chicken. In between is dry kitten chow, which they are finally eating. Kittens are really just adorable little eating and pooping machines.

(26,257 posts)That was fun. Not. Then when they were 4 weeks old I started doing the kitten milk/pate slurry, which made things MUCH easier.
Now they get pate mixed with kibble and a little water 3 times a day and 2 kibble snacks. They really gobble down that mix.
The big boys get two meals of wet food and always have kibble available. They are slowly transitioning off off kitten food and on to adult cat food. One more month and they will be one year old. Hard to believe!
Madoc likes chunky wet food. Gryff licks off the gravy and then heads to the kibble. Madoc then finishes off Gryff's dish. They like pate, too, so sometimes that's what I give Gryff. I know he's getting enough to eat, though. He's an active little panther, that's for sure. Both of the big boys are so sleek and shiny.

(26,257 posts)Especially if finding kitten kibble becomes an issue. I'm well stocked on pate, especially since I'll soon be down to one kitten.

(9,258 posts)Youd never know it looking at my 19-lb Charlie. They dont eat people food either. Vet wants more wet than dry for weight control, and my other cat needs urinary food. They get .5 cup each of Iams urinary dry and share 2 cans a day of Pro-Plan urinary. Both of which they politely nibble at throughout the day. Sometimes the wet food goes untouched. I figure theyre pooping well so they must be eating enough.
