Washington D.C. Man Who Left Parasite-Infested Dog Hanging Dead On A Fence Sentenced

New York (Knewz) — A Washington, D.C., man who left a dog hanging dead on a fence and another with apparent dogfighting wounds was sentenced to 90 days in prison and five years of probation.

The D.C. District Attorney’s Office announced the sentencing for Jaquan Jackson, 35, who was found guilty of charges stemming from animal abuse. He did not provide proper veterinary care for two dogs, U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and Robert J. Contee III, Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said.

Jackson received a sentence of 360 days in jail on July 28 after being found guilty earlier this month of two counts of animal cruelty. The jail portion of the sentence was reduced if Jackson complete five years of probation.

Judge John M. Campbell also ordered the forfeiture of all animals seized by police, a 10-year ban on owning or possessing animals and $52,37.66 in Jackson’s case.
