Move the “old” cat’s food and water dishes right outside that door. He will associate the scent of the kitten with something pleasant (food!). That worked the last time I did that, Freddie and Riley got to be good friends. No guarantee of course.

let them be elevated with you at mutual eye level.

I hypothesize less stress.

Near a sunny window if not too hot.

Let the two of them sniff each other through a door so their scent is familiar. Feed your adult cat treats or play with interactive toys during the introduction period so he or she associates the new kitten with pleasant experiences.

There are some good Youtube videos on cat/kitten introductions. This one is for people who can't separate them into separate rooms:

And Jackson Galaxy's videos are great.

Good luck!

give the kitten some items to smell the older cats scent and vice versa, give a blanket or something that the kitten has slept on to the older cat. slow and steady is the best way to go.

Good luck..... and

of course.....

we want pictures.

I'm sure the professional video will be helpful too.

My one thing I tend to do is pet one cat and then the other and let them smell our 3 scents combined. It's my way of saying we are family now. And I do that with dogs and cats too.

I had to tell my Son's one pitt bull that the kitten I was giving him was MY KITTEN and he was NOT TO EAT IT. Literally snack size, would have fit in the dog's mouth.

My Son said, "MOM!!"

I looked at him, "Remember the hamster."

He went white then red when his wife said, "What about the hamster?"

"YOU NEVER TOLD HER?" I asked dramatically.

He had been showing the hamster to the dog and did not realize that his cutesy voice was telling the dog this little thing was just for him. The hamster saw the writing on the wall and jumped for it.

One gulp later, no hamster.

"You got me dog?" I said again. Dog nodded at me.

They became great friends. My Son is really good with his animals, the one mistake in balance with the rest.

The cat really acted more like a dog than a cat though, so it was funny to watch them.

when closed. Put one cat with litter in room. Put the other kitty on the other side of the door. Wait a few days. Their little paws will be playing with each other soon and they will be dying to be together. Open door. Hilarity ensues.
