Still 90 minutes to go before I take Arthur to the vet for his nip procedure so his big brothers will just have to STARVE until I get back home. Same with the ferals. I'm not bringing out ANY food - not even for me.

And, yes, I'm feeling incredibly awful but it's the way things have to be.

They said to have him there between 8 and 9. They open at 8 and the line forms FAST. It's a very popular practice and there's just 2 vets. Everything but surgeries are first come/first seen but even having an appointment for Arthur involves waiting in line to check him in and then meet with the vet to sign papers. I've gotten there at 7:45, before, and there have been five or six people ahead of me.

Even such a routine, simple procedure is stressful. Last night Arthur curled up next to me for the entire night. Right now he's sitting behind me on the chair. I've never gone a whole day without seeing him, from the day he was born.

I have a feeling today is going to feel two weeks long.

I'll definitely share the update as soon as I hang up the phone.

6. They keep sniffing around the kitchen for their food bowls

I picked them all up, last night. As soon as I get Arthur in the crate I'll pour the big boys some kibble. That should hold them until I get back and open some wet food.

22. That's the problem I have.

I'm soon to retire and will NOT be getting up a 6 am any longer. The semi-ferals that we feed will just have to adjust to a slightly later breakfast time.

Just remember, as soon as those bowls get filled with kibble, they will dive in and forget all sbout this brief period of "famine"! That's the nice thing about animals; they get over things like this really fast.

when I had to STARVE my cat so he could have his teeth cleaned. I was forgiven when I brought him home and he had a full food bowl.
