Just buried our Vicky girl

We found a place for her down by the holly tree where she used to hang out, taking her ease and possibly lying in wait for the errant rodent. I placed her so that she will face the rising sun and put a toy and a tiny cross in with her, and asked the Creator to accept Her servant Vicky, a shy, gentle friend and good mouser, into Her keeping until I see her again at Rainbow Bridge. Now I'm crying again, dammit.

I'd always thought that Winnie, with her tortietude and loud mouth, was the "boss cat" of our two, but it seems not so. it must have been a big sister-little sister dynamic, besides the fact that Vicky, in the dark, was apparently Winnie's seeing-eye cat, running a few steps ahead of her, then waiting for her to catch up while they walked shoulder to shoulder for a bit. Now Winnie has melted into the woods back of the house and I only catch glimpses of her on the back door cam. How am I supposed to lure her into the house at night when she does this? She doesn't even come around for evening feeds any more.

Maybe you could pick up a few of them and place them in areas where Vicky used to go?

Keep working on Winnie. She's no doubt confused that her friend is not there.

5. This is being complicated

by the fact that there is a black and white cat trying to muscle in on our territory. Winnie absolutely HATES him and they've had words in the driveway previously. (Pretty sure it's a him, about 70% of tuxie cats are boys.) He comes around and eats her food and just generally squats in the area, but I've been unable to catch him to run him off.

11. One of our semi-ferals, a grey tabby tomcat, absolutely hates the new male

tuxedo that's trying to claim some of his territory. They fight and howl at all hours sometimes. Bottom line, though, grey tabby declared the winner and tuxedo has taken the number two spot. I'm hoping that's what happens with Winnie and your intruding tux.

And of course, I am sorry for your loss. Our fur babies are family and it always takes a while to process the grief. I'm sure it's the same with Winnie.
