I couldn't find little Miss Carys, last night. I looked EVERYWHERE.

At about midnight I gave up and went to bed.

Woke up at 4:30 to find her snuggled up tight against me, deep asleep.

Of course, we are now right back to 'Go ahead. TRY to catch me.' mode. She's such a puzzling little fur ball and an expert at hiding.

1. They are so good at hiding. Tiger finally made it through the flood and spent most the night in his

most the night in his little house on the porch. Was glad to see him he’s getting a pretty nice thick coat for winter, what a trouper. Carys is messing with you. It’s a good sign

2. I did get to pick her up when we were all in the kitchen.

She was gnawing at my ankles while I attempted to get their breakfast ready.

Apparently she was REALLY HUNGRY.

3. I think she...

Might have a need, for now, to have a secret place where you can't find her. A security thing for her peace of mind. That she came to bed after you were asleep shows that she wanted to exercise her personal power to step out of the regular goings on, but not permanently. She may just need to have her own spot where only she goes.

Glad that she is adapting to the world inside the house, her personality will develop as time goes on, she sounds like she'll be a feisty little sweetheart.

15. Our rescue Foggy is very stealthy and is expert at hiding.

For the first 6 months he'd often be missing for hours at a time and wouldn't come when called. He got over that, rarely hides unless there are strangers in the house, and comes when called, even when he's outside. He loves us and loves to spend time in our laps or cuddling up in my hubs armpits. I know he'll come home and he LOVES to be outside so we have reached an accommodation. I let him outside usually 2-3 times a day, but not when it's dark, and he's good with that. He gets his play, exploring and hunter time outside without our Aussie Shepherd trying to control him and he gets his inside food and cuddle with humans and be friendly to dog time. He's got cystitis so I am watching him for those issues and it is a concern.

16. With my most recent cat experience...

Mikey, both at this place and at the place we used to live (he's actually former landlord's cat from the old place) would find hiding places in my apartment. I'd look for him and not find him but as soon as I discovered his hiding spot it was no good anymore so he'd find a new one.

Do you have a couch or chair with a loose fabric back? Does your bed have a box spring with a loose covering?

9. Madoc's litter found a great hiding place

And yes, it was loose fabric attached with Velcro along the back on the recliner. All four would climb through the loose side and I'd be frantically searching EVERYWHERE trying to find them. I only found them because I saw the back of the recliner was moving!

I finally had to put a pillow in that open space.

When Madoc was still tiny he found that he could hid underneath the recliner, behind the leg. Fortunately he soon outgrew that ability.

10. My current

cat and my last cat are/were this way when they were kittens. They had great hiding places and think is part of their need to explore-at least when they are young. As they got older, they settled down and didn’t/don’t hide as often.

18. My husband and I have a theory.

We think cats have the uncanny ability to slip into an alternate dimension, from which they re-emerge whenever it suits them. At least Willow does. She's really good at it, too.

20. This is correct. You can look everywhere for them, to the point where

you are convinced they've slipped outside so you start stapling Lost Cat posters to telephone poles, and then hours later the cat suddenly materializes at your feet, with a look like, "What? I'm hungry."

22. An old couch that we no longer have provided a perfect hiding...

…place for our tuxie female. Unbeknownst to us, the batting on the underside had come loose, and she would crawl up inside the couch for a cozy nap. I found her when I beeped her TILE device on her collar.

I would never have thought to look for her there.
