Yea, Carys isn't quite up to interacting with other humans, yet

My brother came by and made us a wonderful dinner, last night. The boys were happy to see their uncle but Carys was nowhere to be seen.

We were sitting in the living room, after dinner, just relaxing and talking. He thought he spotted a flash of grey. I finally saw her, dashing from behind the couch to behind the end table to behind a chair, and back again.

Suddenly she popped up and gave me a look of saucer eye fright. Poor baby! She's just learning to trust me.

This didn't bother my brother because he's a long time cat rescuer and cat dad. Eventually she will sneak up for a quick sniff. Then a scritch. Then two.

It took her a while to reappear, after he left, but then she snuggled with me until breakfast time. Now she's wrestling with Arthur.

Madoc and Arthur were just tiny kittens when my brother would come by so they've always been comfortable with him. Gryff took a while to get accustomed to other humans but now he absolutely loves my brother and snuggles with any other humans who happen to stop by. Carys will come around.

It just occurred to me. Maybe she was afraid he would take her away from you? SheltieLover Jan 2023 #11

Space Boy, who was the first one to crawl up on my lap while they were still with their mom, is doing great. He's pretty much completely socialized. Moon is still shy but is getting better. My friend is the caretaker for her nephew who is autistic. The other day Moon let him pick her up and she started purring. That pretty much made everyone's day. Keep in mind these were totally feral kittens between 3 and 4 months old when we finally managed to bring them inside. I was fortunate to have my friend, the VERY experienced feral rescuer, staying with me. The vet was surprised that Carys is settling in as well as she is. Well, it's taken 3 months but still.....

I've got to get back over there to see Moon and Space Boy.

But if she sensed a visitor she would disappear. After they were safely gone she would appear from her safe place smelling the floor and chairs wherever they had been.

A couple more visits & you'll probably need a crowbar to dislodge her from his lap.

She was, no doubt, observing her brothers interacting with him.

I hope you had a nice dinner!

I supplied the ingredients and he did the cooking. He's a really good and imaginative cook. And we drank a couple of toasts to our sister.
