He's never been to a vet really.

He is/was a feral cat when I got him.

I took him there one time and wow, it took two people to round him up into a cage.

He howled so loud the the vet was afraid of him and began spraying Feliway all over the room (which made the entire situation worse).

The vets here won't see a "new" animal as so many people have moved here recently that there aren't any taking "new" clients.

Oops ... I think I hear him in the litter box right now ... will go check!

Crippers!

Oh what to do ...

Silver is a 17 lb. tabby cat btw.

But he was drinking (A LOT!).

I also have his twin brother who has bitten me more than once. Silver is a nicer kitty but still, when he gets upset, watch out!

I'll keep a close eye on him.

He is purring away next to me right now.

He threw the entire toy up in one big piece. It was one of those mice with fur on it. Missy had it hidden somewhere it seems.

Oh my ...

Thank you so much!

Best to find a vet to get he & brother established in case of emergencies!

They wormed him again (2nd time in a week!) which was a very poor idea as he did not have worms.

I said to Silver at that time, "Lets go and get the hell out of this dump!". And so we left!

Greedy bastids around here = most of the vets.

I'd have to drive hundreds of miles to find someone that WILL see him, I kid you not!

Turned out she had been eating from a straw basket that my sister had and the straw stayed in her stomach and the cat couldn’t digest it They first vet said pancreatitis and gave her meds but the cat wasn’t getting better. She took her to a second vet who xrayed the cat and saw the straw, the cat had to be operated on and they removed the straw. The Cat recovered and she’s back to her normal feisty self. The negative, it cost my sister $8000. It would not have cost as much if they caught it earlier.

If he vomits again, I'll try to find a way to get him to a vet.

Wow do I ever need some good luck on this one!

I'm not sure I can pull it off.

He gets really scary when you bring a cage near him.

Thank you!

On edit: Its been a few hrs. since he ate. He seems to be his normal self; no vomiting and he ate a few cat treats.

Who was never feral, but absolutely FREAKS at the vet. She prescribed a liquid tranquilizer before his checkups, which helps a little, the fun part is getting it in him. A while back he had to have a minor procedure for bladder crystals and they had to put him under several times to check his progress. Best of luck.

They gave me some gabapentin for him to take, 25 mg.

It is expired.

I wonder if it would do any good at all?

I tried to find a vet that would give me a tranquilizer for him/them and they wouldn't do it!

His twin is ironically named "Andy" as well!

I'd been hoping to have Missy seen last week as she is missing some fur on her front right leg.

They were being such awholes about the entire thing!

I ended up not taking her in as the missing fur was from ... hiding her cat toys under the closets and trying to REACH under them with her RIGHT leg to get them out of the closet.

The in/out repetitive movement is why the fur eventually rubbed off.

I threw that toy away!

He's up now having his breakfast, a can of his favorite Fancy Feast.

He also had some of the Fancy Feast Filet Mignon dry cat food as well and some cat treats as well.

Had you not guessed by the picture I posted of my dear Silver, he's kind of spoiled (to say the least!).

The cat toy came up in one solid piece.

My friend came by yesterday and she said he'd be mighty sick by now if he any of it left inside of him.

I've still got him under close surveillance!

Thanks for asking.

And it's obvious how much you care for your cat. He actually looks quite a bit like my cat, Nicky. He's also a very large male gray tabby, also rescue, and he's very friendly and affectionate - but he does have a tendency to want to eat plastic. And these days everything's wrapped in it, vegetables, paper products, cat litter, I have to keep an eye on him.

Please let us know how Silver's doing. He is also a very handsome (and well loved) cat!

27. Silver is an indoor cat

Silver has never been outside much.

Now that he's older, he never cares to go outside (he prefers MY new bed as you can see).

He's purring away now after finishing his breakfast.

I will keep a close eye on him, believe me.

Silver was adopted (along with his brother Andy) almost 10 years ago by my late husband who was devastated by the loss of his odd-eyed white cat that lived to be 18 years old. I convinced him to go have a look at the kittens at the nearby kill shelter.

My husband saw Silver and Andy playing w/each other and picked them BOTH up and said, "Lets go!". And so we left with TWO kittens. I've never had a set of twins (aka a "bonded" pair of kittens) before but what a joy they have been for me and I'm so glad they are still here. It makes me not miss my husband as much as odd as that may sound.

Thanks for asking. I'm sure if he was feeling ill, I'd know. He has a meow that sounds like a foghorn going off. In fact that is his middle name, Foghorn or Silver F. for short.

P.S. I hear you on the plastic thing! God damn that crap! Its everywhere in everything and yes, it is a challenge around here too! NOT GOOD = plastic!!!!

I lost my beautiful cat, Felix, who I found as a kitten, last year. As you can imagine, the house has been pretty empty. But my good friend has a daughter who tends to rescue kittens/cats. Nicky was cat #3 and the largest and only male. He really is the sweetest cat, but he also expects attention. And cat #2 who my friend's daughter found as a kitten was the tiniest kitten I've ever seen - even the vet wasn't sure she'd register on his scale. And the issue was that she was afraid of Nicky, insisted on hiding on a shelf in the bathroom. So my friend managed to persuade her daughter to let me take Nicky - she knows me and knows he'd have a good home - and keep peace in the house. So Nicky came home with me on Christmas and other than hiding the first day/night, he's managed to settle right in.

And none of my cats have gone outside, either, there are too many dangers out there. Plus, two of my cats I rescued from outdoors as did my friend's daughter with the littlest one. But we have sliding glass doors that look out on the woods, so Nicky has plenty of outdoor entertainment - we have squirrels, bunnies and the occasional deer.

There are so many that end up not finding homes, esp. black cats.
Many thanks again!

I hope there aren't any more of them hidden some where.

That is how this occurred, by cleaning the house a bit too thoroughly a few old toys emerged that were quickly hidden by the cats and jealous Silver tried to eat one of them that was an old toy.

I'm really glad that Silver is ok, believe me!
