Related: About this forumMy cat Dixie, who is an escape artist, came home after a week away
She looks thinner & raggedy. She drank & ate. A bath will be happening later today.
Her sister Shaw is ignoring her.

(3,152 posts)I think he might have gotten trapped in a neighbor's garage. He was super skinny and a bit freaked out. I think he stayed in our room for about a week after that. I'm glad Dixie made it home safe!

(5,541 posts)I'm thrilled to hear that. I don't know what I'd do if Cuddles disappeared for a week.

(37,197 posts)Dogs just take off and get lost. Most cat stay within a few blocks. If they are lost you can put their litter box on the porch and theyll find that familiar sent. Glad she made it back.

(214 posts)A cat I had years and years ago Shiraz (
sadly, he passed but lived a wonderful and long life with me
) disappeared for about a week. We searched everywhere for days and days. And then one night, he finally showed up!! He was thin and scared and smelled really musty - - like the smell of an old garage or shed. So clearly he had gotten trapped or accidentally locked inside. It was SOOOO thrilling to have him back. He still went outside occasionally, but stayed very close to the house and hung out mostly on the back porch.
So YAY Dixie for making your way home!

(130,553 posts)considered, is it feasible, to get her an airtag or similar tracking device?
irisblue
(37,066 posts)In a bedroom before the porch door is opened. So I put a jar of treats in the back bedroom to lure the cats there while I have the door open.
I'm hoping to get an appt with the vet Thursday/Friday to check for any parasites in her stool. A microchip implantation will be discussed. Do airtags work with android phones? I'll find out
EDITED--Airtags are for Apple, Android can use TileTags, so I will explore that.

(220 posts)get some good sleep tonight after a week of probably not due to the range of thoughts and emotions you must have gone thru esp. during the dark hours.
From 'is she sick, injured, hurting?' to 'is she trapped somewhere?' to 'I'm gonna kill that cat when she gets home!'
Am delighted she is home save and hope you both recover from the experience quickly.
And to Shaw - now play nice, even if you don't want to do it!
May your home return to normal more rapidly than you expect!
