On June 14, 2017, there was a shooting during practice for a congressional baseball game.

I completely forgot the anniversary. I had taken the day off. It happened not far away from me. The shooter and I used to show up at the same library. I shop at the Aldi across the street.

There were many threads at DU that day and on the days following.

That was a crazy day. Thankfully there were three Capitol Police officers on site. Even with three well trained officers there, they were outmatched with a man with a rifle on an open field. They were able to hold him in place with suppressing fire while people ran to safety. Alexandria Police showed up and also engaged the shooter until he was neutralized. The shooter died later that day.

One would think that after exposure to that type of terror and carnage that it would change some Republican minds, but nope.
