It makes sense that we would celebrate his birthday in America. Globally, we're considered the country representing the biggest obstacle to peace, and most likely to start a war; we consistently act in ways which we condemn others for acting; our President has claimed authority to murder US citizens without due process; we privately prop up vicious dictators and regimes; and in our own country we have a two tiered justice system-one for the wealthy and politically powerful and one for the poor.

Columbus is exactly the kind of historical figure we should be celebrating in the US. He certainly represent our foreign policy accurately.
