Married on March 14, 2016, Guillermo and Tom Swann Hernandez should be on their honeymoon right now. Instead, Guillermo is trapped in a for-profit immigration detention center in isolated Calexico, CA that is hours away from his new husband Tom, who struggles as a veteran living with AIDS and blindness, without the care taking Guillermo provides.

two new ones. If this becomes law, single mothers, same-sex couples and their families, transgender people, and vulnerable youth will face hateful discrimination. They could be turned away from social services like homeless shelters, denied medical care, or be fired from their jobs.

In just 12 hours on March 23, North Carolina’s lawmakers passed and Governor Pat McCrory signed the most egregious, sweeping, hate-filled anti-LGBT legislation in this country’s history.

Update 4/18: WE DID IT! We stood with Henry Seaton, a transgender student in Tennessee's public school system, and transgender students and allies to convince this hateful anti-transgender bill's sponsor to withdraw the bill. This is an extraordinary victory that will slow the tide of anti-LGBT legislation threatening to sweep through the country. We won this fight - and we'll continue to stand with transgender people as they work to secure their rights and freedoms. Thank you for all you've done and continue to do!
