It is extremely rare for a law-abiding person to go off the deep end and kill someone for their first violent crime. (Note: "Rare" does NOT = "Never". It will happen, but rarely) Almost always a murderer has a lengthy criminal record. And over half the time the victim is also a criminal.

Law-abiding people are statistically safe with guns so there is no need to try to take their guns away.
