http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=9312800READING, Pa. - November 5, 2013 (WPVI) -- Authorities in Berks County say two robbery suspects were shot and killed by a concerned citizen outside a Reading convenience store.
Friends and family of the dead suspects have identified the two as 24-year-old William Medina and 18-year-old Robert DeCarr.
They tried to portray the two as good hard working men. However, others in the rough Reading neighborhood say the two got what they deserved.
SNIP, long section, worth reading.
Police took the armed citizen in for questioning, but after reviewing video of the incident and speaking with a number of witnesses, authorities released the man.
Adams said the shooter was very cooperative. The man had a license to carry, and since he was threatened at gunpoint, no charges are expected to be filed.
The driver of the getaway car is being charged with Murder-2.
None of the usual things predicted by the anti-gun crowd happened. The CCWer didn't gun down any innocents. The cops didn't gun down the CCWer.
As usual the family and friends of the armed robbers are talking about what nice hard-working guys the robbers were. Notice that the CCWer gave them a chance to surrender. He was not legally required to do that.

Sweet justice.
Well deserved for a man who participates in a crime involving guns.

(8,879 posts)I know, I know, they had guns and threatened to use them. They suspects were leaving the scene without inflicting bloodshed. Concerned citizen turned it deadly over what amounted to cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets. I just cannot seem to see how this equals justice. Concerned citizen should have got the license plate number of the getaway car and a description of the perps and let law enforcement do their jobs. Instead we have two young men's families attending funerals.

(12,072 posts)They would have gone on to do more robberies and sooner or later would have shot someone.
Better that they be shot than some innocent clerk in a future robbery.
He gave them a chance to surrender. They didn't take it and decided to shoot their way out.

(11,181 posts)then what would be the point of him carrying a gun, if he didn't get the oppportunity to play "Dirty Harry". Jeez, one could drown in the flood of testosterone around this one. I've given up trying to have a conversation with most of these armchair cowboys. They pose as liberals, then get a hard on when one of their heroes guns down a couple of "thugs".

(175 posts)Dont rob people and then point a gun at someone when they try to stop you. I have no sympathy for fools who use violence to get what they want and get killed in the process. Live by the sword die by the sword.

(19,497 posts)This is the sort of manipulative twisting that makes the pro-control crowd so disreputable. The person who shot the robbers wasn't protecting property, he was responding to the fact criminals stuck a gun in his face.
Again, more emotional manipulation. There are only 3 people responsible for what happened; 2 are dead and 1 is being charged with 2nd degree murder.

(7,720 posts)they chose not to. They chose to give up their lives for some cash and some cigarettes. The lottery tickets were worthless. After a robbery, even if the idiots manage to get away, would be caught in their attempt to redeem any winnings from the stolen lottery tickets.

(19,497 posts)They chose to conspire to rob someone. They chose to plan it. They chose to prepare. They chose to go to the store. They chose to get out of the car. They chose to commit the robbery. They chose to threaten people. I'm sure I missed many more details as well so, how many bad choices is that and had they chosen JUST ONCE to do the right thing they would still be alive today.

(6,185 posts)I keep hearing that a "shoot out" like this will kill innocent bystanders, as some CCW permit holder plays Dirty Harry.
You can't be suggesting that only the bad guys with guns were shot?
