Firearms safety emphasized at Las Vegas event

By WESLEY JUHL
LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL

The firearms industry’s trade association joined with Las Vegas police Saturday to highlight the importance of firearm safety.

It was a quiet conference in a small room at the Metropolitan Police Department’s headquarters, but the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s Project ChildSafe’s message bellows.

“We’re here today with a very simple and straightforward message,” said foundation President and CEO Steve Sanetti. “If you own a firearm, you have to respect it and secure it when it’s not in use.”

“Everyone needs reminders that just hiding a gun is not safe storage,” said foundation spokesman Bill Brassard.

3. My search of the picture shows it as a file photo used only by this Las Vegas paper.

Shame, because I was curious about where the actual display case exists. I rather thought it might be home-made automatics from the 50's. Non look commercial.

Where the hell is this display case, where was the picture taken, and WTF with putting just any old gun picture together with any old gun article.

If you've ever handled one, or a STEN gun, you know how easily bans can be eluded. A junior high school level machinist can make an effective STEN gun or grease gun.

Meanwhile the banners are after the pistol grips, large magazines, flash suppressors and other cosmetic items.
