ATF chief steps down after bullet ban flap

Actions have consequences.

Maybe they'll think twice now should this or similar proposals come up again

The director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is stepping down following controversy surrounding the agency’s proposal to ban certain types of ammunition.

The ATF announced Friday that Director B. Todd Jones is resigning at the end of the month “to pursue other opportunities in the private sector."

“ATF employees are hard-working, dedicated individuals who serve the public to make our nation safer every day,” Jones said in a statement. “I have seen firsthand their extraordinary commitment to combating violent crime, ridding the streets of criminals, and leveraging all available resources to keep our communities safe

Good luck with that. They've done a lot of other lame stuff with no consequences, why would it be any different this time.

But I do think they're done with crap like this for the time being, if they had any other dumbass proposals, they'd make them now and let Mr Jones be the scapegoat for them.

I think only cabinet level posts do, but I could be wrong.

It's been a very long time since civics class.

I rarely drink, never used tobacco, have hands on experience with firearms and explosives and I'm terrible at politics. I don't think I could mess things up more than they are.

Oh and I can provide references.

Anyone this inept at dealing with such hot-button proposals like an ammo ban has no business in that position. Maybe he can go be a lobbyist for Bloomberg-and-Mommies, or whatever they're called.

but I wonder about the politics behind the ban. Who had the idea for it in the first place and why. I also wonder if anyone in the ATF stuck their neck out and tried to explain wby it wouldn't work (I doubt it.)
