1. I'm sorry she was raped. I know her fear.

However, predators don't issue warnings and it would be relatively useless in a surprise situation.

2. No reasonable person would think a gun is the be-all and end-all of self defense

 

Situational awareness is probably the best first-line defense for anyone- but not
all situations can be avoided.

Anyway, shouldn't that be up to the person to decide what's suitable?
