(849 posts)I am sure he honestly answered all the check boxes honestly on the 4473 background check form
dealing with any arrest/conviction records.
especially
12 e. Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana, or any depressant, stimulant, or narcotic drug, or or any other controlled substance?
His April arrest was for posession of suboxone strips typically used to treat addiction to heroin and other opiates
I am certain he honestly answered Yes to that question.

(1,786 posts)Are not 100% fool proof to keep firearms out of the hands of people who should not own a firearm such as (Felons/Mentally Compromised Individuals) but if it stop just one person from getting a weapon who should not have one it is well worth the effort and enforcement.
I am still amazed that pro 2nd Amendment supporters still baulk at BG checks. One would think that given the proclivity for 2A supporters to view the world with such fear that they feel they need a firearm on them at all times to protect themselves from other people with guns, that having a first line defense (although not perfect but better than nothing) is something they would be in favor of.

(12,194 posts)In GD theres a poll about whether or not the threat of the death penalty deterred the shooter.
It is essentially universally agreed that it wouldn't.
Yet the same people think that a lesser penalty would deter someone with murderous intent from getting the gun in the first place.
Makes.No,.Sense, common or otherwise.

(15,396 posts)Pass that and then they'd need this. Pass this and then they'd demand more of that, because this and that didn't work so more of that and this is needed.
Remember....guns kill people, and the 2A isn't a individual right. Or the right to own firearms only covers flintlocks. Also remember many believe the 20xx supreme court decision was when individuals were given the right to own firearms.

The majority of your fellow American citizens disagree with you by a margin of 75%, think you can get a ban with that lack of support?
