Connecticut to limit access to guns for people on watch lists: governor

Connecticut is taking steps to block people who are banned from flying on commercial airliners from obtaining firearms permits, the state's Democratic governor, Dannel Malloy said on Thursday.

"If you cannot fly due to being on a watch list, you shouldn't be able to purchase a firearm," Malloy said. "Since Congress so far as failed to act, we well."

Do you know that T. Kennedy was stopped from boarding an aircraft because a name similar to his was on that list?

Hell, it's largely what Trump is running on. A general sentiment of "I FEEL SCARED AND THOSE OTHER PEOPLE ARE THE PROBLEM", a blithering disrespect for due process, transparency, and any other form of process designed to protect the country from authoritarian/monarchist rule, and a hostility towards anyone who gets in the way of "solving problems". Authoritarians often seem to come down to this form of sneering bedwetting, simultaneously jeering at anyone who is critical of their politics and wringing their hands about the Terrible Threats which require Strong Solutions.

Been denied a flight because of being on the list, while being completely clean otherwise.... Bet a good lawyer, will even give him/her the money to buy the gun with.. Just to "set the table" for a lawsuit.

and I see some DU'ers here who are in favor of those secret lists, even though we all know that if it was about anything else but firearms, they'd be screaming bloody murder about how unconstitutional these secret lists are.

Can we say rank hypocrisy?

I hope not; otherwise, it would be a disturbing moral overhaul of that BushCheney™ measure.

BTW, song was from the Broadway musical Annie Get Your Gun.

If you are a suspected terrorist and are too dangerous to be allowed on a plane, and too dangerous to be allowed to purchase a firearm, are you too dangerous to be allowed to vote? If you can deny someone one right because they are on a secret watch list, can't you deny them other rights as well?

That's why I support the NO TERRORISTS IN WOMEN'S HEALTH CENTERS ACT. Under this, anyone on a federal terrorist watchlist will be guilty of a felony if they enter any women's health clinic. I foresee no problems with this program, and I don't see why anyone would oppose it unless they are part of the War on Women. Are you part of the War on Women? I hope not. Really, the worst that could happen is that some John-Ashcroft-type Attorney General would have a list of people who could be punished if they enter a women's health center, the power to place anyone on this list without having to consult the legislature or any judges, and the power to claim that the entire process was classified. What could go wrong?

It's just "common sense" that any name on a secret government watch list should be stopped at the polling place and held pending further charges.

So I'm sure all the people so properly concerned about gun sales will also not mind if everyone has to prove they are not on the list before being allowed to vote, right?

Just a quick state issued ID check, maybe a DNA swap if they're still not sure.

It is, after all a SECRET federal government list. One that no state official can get access to.
