Millennials’ mysterious support for gun rights

Why are we being told that the "next generation" is virulently anti gun? They are not.

A decade or two post-adolescence – as our own preschool-age children now practice “active shooter” drills in which they’re coached to cower in the closet or throw toys at a tactical-gear-outfitted maniac – millennials seem to have neither the desire nor the willpower to pressure our political leaders to do much to prevent such tragedies. If anything, we may be slightly more blase about them than our elders.

Which does not bode well for liberals hoping that the arc of history will eventually bend toward greater gun control.

Poll data about views of gun control and specific gun-control measures are mixed, and responses vary depending how questions are asked. But statements about protecting gun rights generally elicit at least as much support from younger Americans as from older ones.

Just another bit of bad news for Michael Bloomberg, and those that take his money.

I have two 'Millennial' children ... a young man and a young woman.

Both have killed and maimed probably thousands of people in video games.
They have the 'experience' of being virtual users of all kinds of automatic weapons in all kinds of virtual situations.

They are both very into the super hero craze of the last decade, too. A single person can fight tens if not hundreds of 'bad' guys and win.

Culture matters.

Now, we talk about this issue all the time being in Colorado and having liberal parents who present the other side to them, they are both rather moderate in their views about guns, but they are not anti-gun by any means.

So, Millennials who are not engaged in political discussions and are about 100 percent part of the shoot 'em up video game culture are undoubtedly not going to be very anti-gun.

Culture matters.
