GOP shouldn’t obsess over guns

WASHINGTON — It is axiomatic that congressional Republicans will oppose anything smacking of “gun control,” which may as well be read as “Your mama.”

Thus, it comes as no surprise that President Obama’s announcement of executive actions to clarify and enhance federal gun laws prompted reflexive, hyperbolic responses from the right.

Marco Rubio said Obama is “obsessed with undermining the Second Amendment,” while Ted Cruz averred, “We don’t beat the bad guys by taking away our guns; we beat the bad guys by using our guns.”

Spoken like a true, Canadian-born Texan who has been busy burnishing his “outsider” Outdoor Guy image. What’s next? Cruz drinking the warm blood of a freshly slain (unarmed) beast?

Walks amongst us.

They're all self-proclaimed lawyers too. And constitutional scholars. As well as ace snipers.

Yeah that's the ticket! DU's own little death cult of right wingers who pretend to be otherwise liberal. Big fans of myths too.

One day they will leave us and follow Trump. With any luck.

I own an AR .223 by the way and have hunted for many years. And I support gun registration, gun insurance, making semi-auto long guns require police registration of their owners, and mandatory gun insurance. I will never give the NRA one cent.

Muzzleloader?

Lever action?

Bolt action?

I doubt you're talking about the ar 15 which only looks like a battlefield rifle, as opposed to the first three I mentioned which actually perform the same as their battlefield predecessors.

Or were you poking fun at gun control advocates, by parodying their rhetoric about the least misused guns?

I live in New York. You would not be able to bring that AR-15 with you if you should choose to move here. If you lived here and owned it prior to 2013, you would have had to register it, and it would have to be surrendered to the authorities upon your demise. Any thoughts on that?

The NRA sells gun insurance. If it becomes mandatory, they will profit immensely, whether or not you give them any of your money.
