Stolen police guns leads to policy change

The theft of two police handguns during two separate burglaries is leading to a policy change for Millville Police Department.

The policy involves officers bringing their weapons home — making the policy more specific on how secure the weapon must be kept. Both burglaries occurred this year and do not appear to be linked. Neither officer was found of wrongdoing and the guns have not been recovered.

Here's what a few of our readers on NJ.com had to say:

MrRatford

And if your pitbull gets loose and causes any damage , you, as the owner are 100 percent accountable for any and all damages caused by that dog. You can't use the excuse "someone broke into my house and let the dog out". Nope. Doesn't fly. And to be devils advocate here what if these supposed burglaries were planned somehow? Where's the accountability here? Why are certain members of society seemingly untouchable? I don't understand the logic here. Are certain people ordained as Gods? Do we have a society consisting of Gods and non-gods?
