Grassroots for gun safety — stand up to NRA, its enablers

When the League of Women Voters launched its gun-safety campaign in 2014 — with about six Orange County league members —people would shrug and say, "There's nothing you can do. The gun lobby has all of the control."

Wrong. As long as people say nothing can be done, nothing will change.

From homicides to suicides and preventable "accidental" shootings, gun violence among Orange County's youth haunts our community. We cannot sit idly by and watch the number of gun deaths soar.

The compelling need to spur action, create change and end the violence motivated the league to form this grassroots initiative to address the crisis. We advocate smart gun laws, a movement in which all citizens can participate.

Except for the annoying fact that gun deaths have declined and are at a 20+ year low. Honesty isn't a big part of the grabbers makeup, is it?

taking firearms from the law-abiding, and the overwhelming silence they have when it comes to promoting measures to punish law-breakers.

The only logical sense I can make of their irrational approach is that they must truly believe that it is actually the mere presence of a gun that makes one do evil, and if guns could be magically made to go away, we'd all be able to live in harmony.

sigh...

While the rate of gun deaths may go down, the number will always rise unless you can find a way to bring prior victims back from the dead.

This has to be about the 143rd version of a counter to the NRA.

Aside from the fraudulent "Gun Safety" name tag, problem is it's just another organization with no infrastructure and a "hopeful" (to be kind) grass roots system.

I doubt you'll bother to keep track of their progress, any more than you follow up on any of your other "oh so hopeful" gun control posts.

Mr. Michel represents many of the most prominent shooting sports and self-defense civil rights associations in the world, including the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA), and has represented many different clients in high profile cases that garnered significant media attention. He is a regular commentator and frequent contributor to national media discussions, and has appeared as a spokesperson for the NRA, CRPA, other associations, and individual clients on dozens of video and radio interviews and in hundreds of newspaper articles.

The poster in question must have cut and pasted at least a couple of dozen stories of the "new group to take down the NRA".

Not once have they ever suggested sending actual money out of their own "activist" pockets to support those groups.

That's about the depth of their "commitment" to gun control.
