1,000 mass shootings in 1,260 days: this is what America's gun crisis looks like

Sunday’s attack on the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida was the deadliest mass shooting in American history – but there were five other mass shootings in the US during that weekend alone.

“We have a pattern now of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world,” Barack Obama said after the San Bernardino attack in December 2015.

Data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive via the crowd-sourced website ShootingTracker.com reveals a shocking human toll: there is a mass shooting – defined as four or more people shot in one incident, not including the shooter – on five out of every six days, on average. As many people die at the end of a gun in America, as died on 9/11.

In the last 50 years 15,000,000 have died at the end of a gun in America.

The gun violence rate now is worse than it was in the 1950s; things are worse despite the violence level falling drastically from the 90s.

the head guy, Gnome Chomsky, studied propaganda in the UC system. Most of their "mass shootings" have no citations, and most are references to things like air soft guns.

It looks like Brit journalism sucks as bad as American journalism.

Orlando was not a "mass shooting". It was a terrorist attack by an ISIS operative, just like California.

He and I probably disagree to some extent of guns, as we do on a few other irrelevant things, this is spot on. Mass shooting implies spree killing, this was not. This was an ISIS oprative carry out a mission.

You imagine that stringing words together in some vague order represents a response.

There was a guy with guns.

He shot people. A lot of people. Many died.

...deadliest "mass shooting" in U.S. history, not by a LONG shot. Of course, they won't tell you that the worst mass shooter is....the U.S. Government.

Wounded Knee, Sand Creek, Washita, Marias River....look it up.

"While private gunrunners continue to thrive, the world's biggest arms suppliers are the U.S., U.K., Russia, France, and China. They are also the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council."

I suppose, once you build a military, it becomes difficult not to pull the trigger now and then.
A militia would be better.
