Family Plans to Destroy Stockpile of Inherited Guns and Ammo Worth Millions, Lawyer Says

Family members set to inherit a stockpile of guns and ammunition, worth millions of dollars, plan to destroy the weapons "to send a message," their attorney Daniel Brookman told ABC News today.

"They want these instruments of death to be destroyed," Brookman said. "They don’t want these weapons out on the street."

Jeffrey A. Lash, of Pacific Palisades, California, died last summer of natural causes, but left behind a stockpile of more than 1,500 guns, 6.5 tons of ammunition and nearly $250,000 in cash, according to local ABC-owned station KABC-TV. All of the purchases were legally made, KABC reported.

The reason Lash amassed such a collection remains a complete mystery.

The photo shows stacks of rifles and shotguns that doesn't look like they were well cared for.
As for why, I don't know. Maybe his twin sister is a cat lady?

There's always an "opportunity cost" to this kind of virtue signaling.

The heirs may feel all warm and fuzzy, but that money could easily be converted by an auction into food and shelter for the homeless, education for children that need help, or any number of good works, then they might have a reason to feel smug and self satisfied.

Destroying them will just give them a short term high and not save a single life.

All that value going to waste.
If the family does not want to deal with the sales, find an FFL that does consignment sales. That gets you the background checks.
Just selling all that ammo would make a tidy sum.
