Trying to find the year of manufacture for a Colt Derringer Model 3

pocket pistol. Cute gun. Used to belong to my Irish cop grand uncle then my grandmother.

Serial number is 482 C (under the barrel, nothing on stock/grip)

and prices vary widely according to condition, from $300 to slightly north of $2000. An appraiser would be your best bet.

a classic Derringer, likely 1880s but not sure of the exact year.

Also the serial is on the bottom of the barrel piece and those were interchangeable but this gun seems to be all original and in very good shape. Used to belong to my grand uncle who was an Irish cop in Indianapolis.

Looks like I have an early 3rd model, possibly it is 1873 or so. There is no mention of the "C" mark below the numbering. Not sure what the "C" denotes.

The box is long gone but interesting to see how they were sold, especially the pairs.
