Officer Eric Talley Would Have Been 'Deeply Offended' if Used for Gun Control Push, Dad Says

The Boulder, Colorado, shooting has reignited the push for gun control, but the father of the police officer who was killed said his son was a gun owner and wouldn't have wanted his death to be used to restrict access to firearms.

A week after eight people were killed at three Atlanta spas, a gunman opened fire at a grocery store in Colorado, killing 10 people. The two shootings compelled lawmakers to call for a ban on certain firearms, a move that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris support.

Homer Talley, the father of Boulder Police officer Eric Talley, who was the first law enforcement officer to arrive on the scene, told TMZ his late son owned an AR-15 he used for target practice.

"My son would have been deeply offended to know his death would be used to promote gun control. Before he was an officer, he enjoyed shooting," Talley told TMZ.

1. Maybe so-- or maybe that is only his Father's view. Does the Officer's widow agree?

2. Maybe he would change his mind after getting killed by one?

.... Oh, that is a ridiculous proposition, he is unable to. Unable to do anything any more. Just about as ridiculous a proposition that he would be against it. We can't ask him if his circumstances have effected his opinion. Let the man (who was a hero in his own right) rest in peace.

4. Familiarize yourself with the case law.

Historical references, court argument and writings of the Founders have always focused 2A protections on standard infantry issue arms and excluded weapons like explosives, napalm, canon, cruise missiles and, sorry, even stingers, LAAWS and various crew served systems.

8. As are full-auto SMGs.

The laws are 90ish years old and have been accepted and upheld in court.

5. If if police departments weren't so heavily infested with white supremacists, I think the majority

of cops would approve of some gun control. It's not like they can point to some instance when cops were pinned down and gravy seals showed up to save their asses.

6. I'm absolutely certain mostly all of law enforcement approves of the regulation of guns.

They are charged with enforcing many of those laws. Some probably think more restrictions would be good while others don't.
