Are guns actually good substitutes for large (...)?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by krispos42 (a host of the Gun Control & RKBA group).

I hope so, 'cause this guy is going to need a substitute!

http://www.freep.com/article/20120615/NEWS03/120615029/Man-shoots-himself-in-the-penis-in-Birmingham

A Southfield man is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the penis as he adjusted his gun, according to police.

The 45-year-old heating and air-conditioning company employee was on a job in Birmingham on Tuesday when the incident took place, Birmingham Police Deputy Chief Mark Clemence said today. He was getting ready to work and was moving the .40-caliber Glock pistol in his pants when it discharged at 11:15 a.m.

"Through and through, if you can believe it," Clemence said. "The situation could have been a lot worse. You think about it -- your femoral artery runs down there. He could have shot it off. It could have been a lot worse. It’s a big bullet; you’re not talking a small bullet."

Ouch! Responsible gun owners don't shoot their dicks off.

This guy was not a castrater until he became one.

Rude snipper.

Urine spewer.

(Any other good anti-gun terminology I'm missing?)

not only that, you have to put direct pressure on the trigger release (for a glock

A proper holster should completely cover the trigger guard.

I almost NEVER draw or reholster my gun on my body. My whole Galco holster, gun and all, is easily removed and stored in a glovebox or other location. My glock might spend *weeks* in it's holster due to not having to draw the weapon to remove it from my body.

you stay at home with a rifle!

I carry my insurance card around with me all the time, and it's not because I think there's a high probability of being hospitalized today. I carry my flashlight around with me all the time, and it's not because I think there's a high probability of being stuck in the dark today. I keep jumper cables and a gas can in my car all the time, and it's not because I think there's a high probability of breaking down today. The whole point of preparedness is that you don't know if or when the need will arise, but you've decided to be ready no matter when it does.

According to several around here, if you own a gun, you don't have a dick!

(I have yet to figure out how that applies to all the ladies that tote)

So in support of my anti-gun "buddies" I proclaim this article to be complete bullshit.

but it's a recurring story that when states enact carry statutes, violent crime plummets. It happened in Texas, it happened in Florida, it happened in Virginia, and the effect has been persistent. There's no surge in shootouts, no rivers of blood.

Not covered by the SoP. And it's being discussed in GD.
