A question

I want to buy a handgun from my uncle and we both live in NJ and have clean records. My question is what do I have to do to make it a Legal sale?I know NJ is a gun controllers wet dream or does anyone know where I can learn this info.

You will need to fill out some paperwork, get fingerprinted, pay a small fee, and get approved by some faceless bureaucrat who could deny the permit for any reason or no reason at all.

Your local PD should be able to tell you everything you need to know.

I am shocked no one has sued this state over 2nd amendment issues yet.

I was under the assumption that a sale between two parties inside the same state you didnt need to go through a background check?

I'm just a serf but based on the attitudes expressed by Christie and the AG my limited and untrustworthy opinion of my elected officials is when in doubt, vote 'em out. I mean if I can't be trusted to pump my own gas, how could I be trusted to own a gun?

Best of luck with your efforts.

If a person were to move to NJ from another state and already owned a pistol, would they have to apply for a permit to keep a gun that they already legally owned?

Of course if you don't know the Governor, or are able to bring pressure through media reports, you may have to serve many YEARS in prison.
