Confiscated guns to be sold by police

ALBANY, GA -

A Georgia law that took effect last month requires all law enforcement agencies to sell most of the guns they confiscate to licensed dealers if they can't return them to the lawful owners.

Gwinnett County's Police Department recently sold 62 guns for more than $10,000 and that money goes to the state.

And right there in the pile was an M-1 Thompson. I'm sure it was the semi-auto version but boy did I want to grab it out. I've always wanted the gun Vic Morrow carried in Combat. You can buy the semi-auto's for around a $1,000. And if it was a real WWII era gun it would have been worth $10,000 and probably more all by itself.

A pattern of gun abuse -- including number, types, etc., of guns coveted -- should be part of background checks. Mental and maturity tests should also be required.

I don't think anybody believes him about anything, but his claims are so fantasic that he invites being the butt of jokes. Look at the bean humor a few posts above this one.

That comes from Hoyt one of Hoyt's claims. There was a guy that went nuts in a grocery store and began stabbing people. A guy with a concealed carry license pulled his gun and held the knife guy until police arrived. Hoyt claimed that the gun was not needed, that if force was needed he would have thrown a can of beans at the guy with the knife. So now we rag on Hoyt about his concealed can of beans.

There are over 85,000,000+ gun owners in the US: you're mentioning 4 outliers and repeatedly hoping someone will buy what you are selling. You've been debunked. It wasn't hard.

Anecdotal Evidence
This is fallacious generalizing on the basis of a some story that provides an inadequate sample. If you discount evidence arrived at by systematic search or by testing in favor of a few firsthand stories, then your reasoning contains the fallacy of overemphasizing anecdotal evidence.

Since by recycling the state is getting the money. But if they destroyed the guns manufacturers would have to produce more weapons to sell and thus increase their profits.

I can imagine this has to hurt gun manufactures profits. I think an 80's smith and wesson revolver is better than anything made today. The only way I'm buying a brand new revolver from them is when the 80's made ones are no longer available.

Every used gun sold by the police to a private individual is one NEW gun that's not sold by a gun manufacturer. This is denying profits to gun makers!

The price prohibition decreased. Conflict: higher prices for new guns, BUT gun makers profit; or, lower prices for used guns, BUT more people can buy them (or can buy 2 instead of 1).
