Send Obama twenty bucks, buy a couple boxes of shells, or reload them, go to the range and remind folks who signed those silly laws in Massachusetts.
Ultimately, it isn't about money for propaganda on the idiot box. It is having serious discussions from a populist point of view, help folks jump through the hoops of those voter ID laws, even if you have to drive them to the DMV and pay for them yourself. It is about putting fliers on car windows at Wal Mart.

Seriously, dude, I'm trying to have a conversation with you. Why is it a one or the other situation: Obama donation versus guns (or anything else)? If it's wrong to spend money on shooting-related items during election season, what else is it wrong to buy? Or conversely, what is it OK to buy?

Do you actually condemn people for any/all expenditures that are non-Obama and non-essential-for-life? Bottom line, my first answer to you was "both" - why is that in error in your opinion?

'Should I donate to DU?' conundrum...

And on edit: 'Both' has everything to do with it - none of us, no one on the planet, is actually faced with the choice you present. If we were, if anyone was forced to choose between 'buy something/anything nonessential' vs. 'Obama wins', then the choice would be Obama. But that situation absolutely doesn't exist, which is why everyone on this thread decided to point out the fallacy of your little gotcha game, and which is what you've apparently decided to run away from rather than engage in actual discussion. I'm sort of embarrassed for you, to be honest.

Can't you make do without until after the election? Surely there's some area where you could be sending Obama money where you're currently just spending it on "fun." Let me tell you, there's nothing fun about a Rmoney presidency!

If people shouldn't be spending money on things you don't like so that they can instead send that money to Obama, you'd better be pure as the driven snow on that account, right? So please lead by example and tighten the belt for the cause.

The whole 'I'm practically a monk' reply. I have to say I did NOT see "my belt is a piece of cord" coming. I guess I'll take your word on that, lol. And nowhere in all that defensiveness did you once get the point, that people spend their money on tons of shit they don't necessarily need (well, everyone but you...isn't that right?), and that it doesn't mean they hate the US and want Republicans to win, for fuck sake. Nor does it mean they AREN'T donating to Obama and/or local Dems, and it sure as hell isn't a logical launching pad from which to finger-wag at other DUers. It's just a petty and bankrupt tactic.

And as I've told Hoyt approximately a brazillion times, I don't own any guns. But I did buy a box of ammo for a rental gun at the range a few months ago. I must be a closet repuke huh?

I don't know why you're struggling making the distinction that re-electing the President is more important than guns other than you're really wrapped up in the whole gun culture nonsense, especially for someone who doesn't even own a gun. Sad.

Do you want to guess what the overwhelming answer to such a question in GD would be? What is more important - buying fancy Christmas presents or defeating Romney? In fact: Shblamm: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021184303

I spend my extra money on lots of things, I have that option since I live well below my means. Last weekend I spent it on tools and paint for a house belonging to a work colleague who is moving away and needed some serious help to get the house ready to be rented.

Mark my words Barack is going to win all buy 8 states by the time the election rolls around. People are dumb but not dumb enough to vote for the other ticket.

I still need to order a new upper to complete a project I started in March, and stock up on ammo before the goobs head out to clear the shelves on November the 7th. I'm not going to be caught without at least a years worth of practice ammo like the last election. I went almost 8 months without getting to the range in 2008. Never again...

I daresay I've given more to Democratic candidates, spent more time and energy in various state and local election phone banking, or shuttling more voters to the polls than you have. Put your money where your mouth is. How much have you spent on re-electing the president?

And nice slide from 'do you spend more on' to 'do you care more about'. Did you think I wouldn't notice?

But hey, how much have you donated this election cycle? How many hours of phone banking and door knocking have you committed to? Do you have a list of voters who need a ride to the polls? Have you even reached out to your local party committee and signed up to help out?

We're up to $1,200 and change in 2012. (I'm sure of the $1,200 {$600 x 2}, but my wife bought some bumper stickers, and I'm not sure what they cost.)
