Terry Sanford High students embark on military mission through Rapid Strike flight simulator

The teenagers held on tight, laughing and squealing in the dark as they seemed to fly across the desert.

"You don't see this in 'Call of Duty,' " shouted a voice from the second row.

On Wednesday, students at Terry Sanford High School got a taste of what it's like to carry out a mission in the U.S. Air Force. After about a six-minute ride in the the Rapid Strike flight simulator, the students filed out into the school's parking lot, ready to go again.

The flight simulator, a sleek pod on the back of a big rig, stopped in Fayetteville on Wednesday after setting up outside the Carolina Panthers game in Charlotte earlier in the week and on its way to Miami for a couple of exhibitions, including at the Dolphins next game.

I saw this same thing, or one like it, at a minor league baseball game. This humongous semi set up in the parking lot and young kids, much younger than high school age, filing in and out of it.
