I'm sure the newer replacements will create many more "tens" among the armed forces.

(135,425 posts)"tortoiseshell brown" numbers, which were equally dorky, and shortly thereafter, the black ones became "cool" for a short period of time.
During WW2/Korea, they were issuing Harry Potter glasses, nearly round numbers with hooks for the ears--I knew a few guys who hung on to those. They actually had a certain amount of pizzazz, in an odd way!

(9,900 posts)I did not need glasses, other then reading glasses till I turned 50ish. I sort of remember one of my bootcamp (late 70's) buddies by the no-shit name of John Paul Jones wore kinda horn rimmed glasses.
Can't remember if the guys got re-issued glasses in boot.
