Im reading again Guy sajer forgotten soldier

I’ve read it three times once in the 1980s and then last year. And again today after sajer transfered to infantry and completed training. As he describes the battle of belgerod in summer of 1943 I am thinking Guy sajer is in battle of Kursk.

And what I am thinking is sajer was a landser and as we all know as infantrymen you have no clue where your at higher ups make those decisions. And sajer first language was French,Just my observations.

As in how some question if this is authentic. I do think sajer served in Gross Deutschland I do not feel in reading this. That it should be taken as battle history of the GD on east front. But rather one mans personal experiences that were written after the war. Who perhaps struggled with the horror and memories of east front.

1. He and his book have come under a certain amount of controversy

regarding the veracity of his story. It doesn't detract from the shattering experience of reading about life on the Eastern Front in WWII.

To sajer he may have asked what is nearest city. In battle of belgorod in summer of 43 to him he may have never heard of Kursk so this is what I’m basing my thoughts on

And in reading it again I admire the veteran august wiener the Mg -42 gunner that sajer was his Assistant gunner he saved those boys hide Hans and sajer.

Is sajers constant suffering as landser now thank god as former infantry I never suffered as him or comerades

After I caught PCs from Bragg I ended up in west Germany as mech infantry. It was late 85 I do think we could have checked Warsaw Pact in our AO. As in terrain choke points but we would have paid dearly to stop them with our wreckage.

Now in North Germany very flat terrain armor has maneuver territory I do think the Warsaw Pact would have made gains and encircled nato ,My opinion is all.

11. In 1985 I was in a LRRP unit for 5th Corp, it was a very tense time for NATO, if the Communists

missed that 84, 85, window, then they would miss their chance for many years to come, and miss it they did.
