Lynn planted mint in our yard. It has spread out, since.

She died last July of kidney failure.

Today found me sitting in the yard watching birds, trees , one grandkid and passing-by neighbors.

We have workmen doing repair and I got a strong smell of mint as one of the workmen brushed against the mint.

Thanks, Lynn

Can change the world. We should all do some of those things so we will be remembered…amazing how well a smell can bring us back. For me a song will always take me back. I wish nothing but the best for you and yours, thanks for sharing, your post brought a tear.

My wife died almost 6 years ago and these moments are still coming. We take what we can get.

One caution though - it grows like a weed. Mint can take over if you aren't careful to keep cutting it back.

I love the scent of fresh mint and it does have benefits such as repelling pesky varmints and insects. It's a great thing to add on certain kinds of salads and even main dishes. But if you aren't actually harvesting it or sharing it with friends, it might act like a weed and overrun other plants.
