It happened again like clockwork

I just received my semi-annual phone call from the scammer that starts out saying "Hi grandpa." My response is always "tell me your birthdate." Then I hear the click and know this will happen again in about six months or so.

3. My wife has gotten a couple of these calls claiming to be her sister or niece

She can recognize the voices though and hasn't been taken in.

I read somewhere that billions are stolen from seniors using the method I described.
I'm glad you told me about the calls your wife has gotten. I will tell my wife about that.

12. My wife's standard response to scammers

"Hey, you just called about that a few minutes ago." They hang up immediately.

14. I got one Caller IDed as "Primary Care Physician" wanting to "confirm" my insurance information.

I didn't get very far into it before I hung up.
