"stimulus check" and tax return-UPDATED

Last edited Thu Apr 2, 2020, 07:10 AM - Edit history (1)

I've heard so many different things, so to be safe, I filed a tax return with zero liability. I only have SS income, no earned income or retirement plan, so it was free for both federal and state, and they efiled it. If you want to be sure you will get your check and want to file as I did, go to:

turbotax. com

UPDATE: Seniors will not have to file a tax return to get the stimulus check:

But SS Admin has that info so I hope that will take care of it. It's computer generated, and since there was no refund or tax due, there wasn't a question. Well, fuck. Just when I thought I had it covered!

Some of it is on the IRS website. Damn Republicans. I said to my wife at dinner I'm sure some people will still be waiting for the money at Christmas.

not sure when it will be available.

I don't think you have to worry. If your SS/SSI check is direct deposit, they have your info. It should be OK.

My SSI is direct deposit so I should get a stimulus check.....to many seniors like me the money can save our lives so we can get our meds and groceries.

1) income eligibility (thus the return)
2) direct deposit info, the article says this:

""We will create a web-based system for people where [if] we don't have their direct deposit [information], they can upload it so that they can get the money immediately as opposed to checks in the mail," Mnuchin said Sunday on CBS' "Face the Nation." (emphasis mine).

I think it is ridiculous for the IRS to ask for information Social Security already has, but that seems to be the direction this is going.
You have at least proven to them you are income eligible for the money, which is half the battle. Good luck, stay safe and well.

was saying the government would use Social Security deposit info. That would make sense. Nothing in Trumpworld does though. I predict this will be another scandal.
