Have you received your annual Social Security notice? I had to laugh!

I will receive an annual increase cost of living of $16.
I'm celebrating, I can buy another bundle of toilet paper!

Trying to live on SS is a joke, especially since you've worked for 64 years. I wonder what the idiots now in Washington will get for a raise this year?

Take away their days off, trips to wherever, time walking the halls, free 'this and that', boy they must be suffering!

trying to take these hard earned benefits away from us. It is a joke, and it's unfortunate, for some people, it's their only source of income and it's got to be hard, harder than hell to stay afloat month to month, and then you have these idiots badmouthing SS etc.

I have section 8 rental assistance and that's all I get beyond that for help. I don;t bother with food stamps (EBT/SNAP) because I would only get about $40/month, too many hoops to jump through for $40.

specially if you aren't a consumer. I don't need much, if I am frugal I get to make sure my transportation is all fixed and running well, reliably. I spend most of the rest for groceries which I don't mind. Food, shelter and transportation, my medical is super low maintenance so I am fortunate there. I m content with what I have so far.

It was supposed to be part of the 'three-legged' stool (with pension and savings)......but that has not worked out well for many workers

to keep a roof overhead and food in the pantry, it is damn hard to save any money. We weren't able to save until the kid were on their own, and we both had good paying jobs. It is a lot harder for young people today than it was when I was married in 1971. So much of our national wealth has been concentrated at the top that there is a hard row to hoe for working people to get ahead. If the Republicans had their way, it would be much harder.

Selfish greed and corporate purposeful malicious churn work so much better to destabilize those legs of a plan like that.

https://www.enlumenls.com/balancing-on-a-three-legged-stool/

When one balances on the single remaining leg, NOTHING CAN GO WRONG, especially those things that one cannot even try to directly control, and disastrous results are inevitable - Enter things like CoVid-19!

To help my daughter buy a house. That counted as income and my required Medicare Part B contribution went from $144 to $376. It’s called Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amount. (IRMAA). And it made more of my Social Security taxable. Double whammy.
