Sharon Isbin - a woman of strength

A couple of weeks ago my wife saw and heard guitarist Sharon Isbin on the Tavis Smiley show. She thought that I might like to hear Ms. Isbin play as I love guitar music of most any genre.
On her web site their were some audio clips of her works that impressed me enough to order a 5 CD set and to pre order a video, Sharon Isbin: Troubadour, a documentary with performances. I am blown away! The story of this woman from Minnesota, the daughter of a nuclear scientist, a girl who loved model rockets and fell into the guitar almost by accident is compiling.
I did a little search of her name here on DU and one DUer thought that the only reason she has such success is because of her good looks. I don't think so. She has a great strength of character that I would love to inculcate into my granddaughters. By strength of her will and persistent efforts Ms. Isbin has convinced composers to write new pieces for the guitar and orchestra, she has collaborated with jazz and rock guitars and is the founder of the guitar program at Juilliard Scholl of Music.
Since she has come out as a lesbian I don't think that she has sleep her way to fame in this male dominated field. I am just in love with her hands. I hated the video to end because that is all I have of seeing and hearing together those beautiful fingers drawing out those beautiful notes.
