Anybody heard from Cornel and/or Tavis lately?

Being in Australia makes it a bit difficult to keep up with my two favorite grifters.

Have they accused the president of anything note-worthy lately? Or have the painful and numerous butt-whuppings they've taken caused them to quiet down for a while?

Do you have a link to story on this that involves Cornel? The only stories I've read on this don't even mention him.

Accountable to them to keep their names in the paper and the dough flowing to their banking accounts? That's actually the very definition of American capitalism of the grifting, crony kind that is their specialty.

I embarrassed myself so many times arguing that Cornel was The Man. I was such a huge fan of his. Never paid Tavis that much attention. Everything about that man screamed "opportunist" to me.

Even when Obama was sworn in and Corny started up, I thought "well, there has to be something to this because this is Cornel. My MAN." But when the criticisms became more and more frequent, more personal and more PETTY he started to lose me.

Mad because you didn't get invited to Obama's inauguration'? What??! 'Mad 'cause the man parking cars at your hotel got an invitation and you didn't'?? Are you kidding me??!

But when he said that the president "fears free black men," the second those words came out of his mouth he lost me. Totally and completely. It will take alot for him to get me back too.

I totally agree, Mr. West and Michael Eric Dyson were great and Dyson still is however Mr. West jumped the shark when her teamed up with the Legendary Hater Travis smiley, I was so done listening to him when that happened. Obama can’t just try and save Black people and I say that as a black man, he has to govern for all not just the few, that was pretty clear even before he took office.

Are when I stopped respecting West. Had West said, "President Obama fears this black man" - I could at least ask him why he thinks that to be the case. Eventually - we would have gotten to the heart of the matter - West is self-absorbed and pompous. And that's why he made that statement -

It's all about him.

And thought, "Here's a thinker!"

But I began to lose respect for him in the late 90's/early 2000s, when he seemed to stop writing and began appearing on the TV machine and travelling the speaking circuit, where he was being introduced as the "thinking man's 'Black Intellectual'." I think this went to his head.

but I wasn't paying that much attention. Don't get me wrong--I believe he has good intentions for minorities and the working class, but his expectations of PBO have been a little unreasonable, given the circumstances.

Because they should have known their place is to applaud everything the First Black President does. It shuts up dissent, which is why he was selected in the first place. I mean, who better to assaisanate an African leader and go into African nations that with a Black man at the helm? On the domestic front, ditto Erik Holder...

So in your opinion the US needs a Black POTUS to kill people in Africa? Really so I guess a Muslim POTUS is next in line? Madness this country is founded on capitalism meaning making money, if they find a country to exploit then that is what is going to happen Race is not an issue, only to divide the idiot public.

ANALYSIS: Cornel West’s Obsession with Obama
May 21, 2012
By: Michael H.Cottman, BlackAmericaWeb.com

http://www.blackamericaweb.com/?q=articles/news/the_state_of_black_america_news/40515

-snip-

Every few months West rolls out new material to beat-up on Obama whenever he has an opportunity to meet with the media.

-snip-

When asked to critique Obama's first term in office, West said Obama is "much much better than Mitt Romney" but he remained critical of Obama.

"Mitt Romney is a catastrophic response to a catastrophe, whereas Obama is a disastrous response to a catastrophe,” West said. “Is disaster better than catastrophe? Yes it is .... "

-snip-

###

the article is very hard to read, sadly true.

i recently heard Tavis also begrudgingly acknowledge that President Obama must win, that he will, of course, vote for the President.

There has been alooooooot of conversation in the black media over Tavis and Cornel's idiotic crusade against the president. They've both gotten their asses handed to them so many times and by so many different people and sources I have completely lost track. The idiotic Boyce Watkins is the only black person (along with the psychos at Black Agenda Report) that I have EVER seen defend either of these two.

West won’t be on the road campaigning for Obama this year as he was in 2008, but the question remains whether West will continue to attack Obama right up to Election Day.

And more important, are black voters really listening?

The replies from the vast majority of the black posters in this thread could give the author a pretty good answer to that question.
