http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1251&pid=456257The above thread sparked this. I admit, I have not watched any video from the event.
I'd appreciate it if non-regular members of this group do NOT post in this thread. One can hope. At least I asked politely.

(4,713 posts)their special leader got put in on the spot. As a minority I have been saying from the jump that the issue of race & social injustices are not being addressed appropriately. I don't care what marches they participated in 40+ yrs ago all they are doing now is giving lip service. Not actively participating in any of the marches or protests that are going on. It's my son's, cousin's & future generations that I have to worry about.
I don't give a damn if someone's feelings feel hurt, they have been blatantly ignoring our major issues.

I just came out of Gd-P and it is THICK up in there. You guys better be prepared. We will soon be bombarded with a TSUNAMI of brown faces suddenly touting Bernie's creds! Ray Ray the dry cleaner, Killer Mike, Wally the taxi driver, Rashonda the school teacher -- they will FIND them some Negroes to put up in order to try to pretend that yes this man has TRULY and DEEPLY connected with the black and Hispanic communities, just forget what those polls tell you! Just forget what black media is telling you! Jason, the 14-year old black kid on social media who's not even old enough to vote really loves him!!!
Yesterday, folks were talking about the polls that showed Hillary wiping the floor with Sanders were bought and paid for by her campaign. Today, these same folks are pretending that what appears to be a fairly disastrous appearance before BLM is either the work of ungrateful Negroes or is actually a shining example of how perfect and glorious their candidate is.
These really embarrassingly stupid "defenses" of their candidate will get plenty of recs here, but if nothing else, all it's really doing is showing how desperate, uninformed and sad these folks are. They really are to be pitied.
giftedgirl77
(4,713 posts)out to get their super candidate. I just got swarmed with my BLM post in another thread & immediately got called an HRC supporter repeatedly it was nuts. Then was told my opinion was a minority here. I pointed out that of course it was because it's mainly old white people that post here (we'll see if that gets a hide). I also pointed out that it didn't make my point any less wrong considering the voting demographics in this country & they may want to take note.
BTW, since when did civil rights issues become a wedge issue because I was also told that?

(89,244 posts)with the whole "class not race" thing . and many of these are the worst of those in the primary debates .
and we are also seeing the george soros crap which is usually pushed by the right wing. soros has always contributed to liberal causes . him contributing to blm is not some huge conspiracy.

(24,544 posts)Sanders' virtues. No endorsement will be too small!
These people will SCOUR the web to find brown folks touting Sanders. We saw this the milisecond black people started saying "why doesn't he discuss issues that directly affect minorities?" or "why are there so few brown people supporting him?" All of a sudden, this board was screaming about the delightfully named BlacksForBernie Twitter feed and its whopping 180 members!!!1
You can see it on DU too. The 2-5 brown people that will disavow the rest of us not to mention the THOUSANDS of brown people on social media that are questioning Sanders' automatic pivot to economic issues over race will be given all the +1s and the recs. You just watch. It's happening already.
These folks denied or flat out lied about the polls after polls after polls that said that Bernie has made no impression in minority communities despite 25 years in Congress. They have tried to run off and minimize every brown person here that's said that his discussion of only economic issues will not garner him support in the AA community. Now, BLM and Black Twitter have flat out EXPLODED with black people very clearly, very loudly saying the same thing we've been saying for months and these people are still saying it's a Hillary conspiracy, Rove tactics or whatever. They are beyond all hope and really have no business on a Democratic web site.

(31,849 posts)long time DUers, that never participated in the AA Group, or any of the race threads, or any of the topics that were of general interest to Black and Brown Duers ... But suddenly feel the need to self-identify as "People of Color", now, and only post in opposition to what long time self-identifying PoC are saying?
... And that opposition includes questioning whether I am actually a Black man?
Number23
(24,544 posts)page!! They're like the ones who never have posted in this forum, never identified as poc, but still felt the need to pipe up in the poll we put up about who the minority posters are supporting.
These folks understand and respect the black community as well as their pals do. So of course that makes them EXTRA special to our "allies" in the big forums.

(31,849 posts)and before the sirens sound and outrage meters peg, let me explain and provide a check ...
It is clear that that Thomas/Cain's value to the conservative movement is their race, then, their ideology ... so with our extra special friends, they are welcomed because of their race, then their ideology.
How could I say such a horrible thing? Simple ... But for their racial status all of them would be unimportant in their support. Cain and Thomas would be just two more conservatives, completely lost, and utterly un-noteworthy, in the conservative noise ... so, too, with a friends here
And before the protestation get louder, our friends recognize it ... that's why there are all the "I am a PoC and I approve that message" posts.

(24,544 posts)Once you accept that alot of these people telling black folks what is or should be important to us and screaming because BLM dared to demand answers from Sanders live lives every bit as insular, narrow and devoid of minority presences as anybody on the right, everything else just falls into place.
I'm from Georgia. I have seen people like this every day of my life. Including the latching on to the black folks that will happily confirm their already held biases. There ain't nothing new about any of them, though they love to pretend otherwise.
The thing is, it THRILLS me to see a diversity of black thought and opinion. I am THRILLED that Sanders has black supporters although looking at many of his white supporters, I completely understand why so many have kept that so quiet. But the thing that pisses me off to no end is that if a black person here or "out there" says something that's in line with the DU Glitterati here, they can't run to rec that shit fast enough. Even if it's not born out in polls. Even if it's the complete antithesis of everything we see in black media. They will accept THAT as the truth, but not the 6,924 other articles and perspectives from other black people that say the complete opposite.
This is why I have no interest in white person after white person after white person in GD posting some article from some black Kos diarist, some brown kid on Youtube or some black "thinker." Because this same crowd would scream to the hills or ignore it completely if someone posted something from OTHER black people that said the opposite. There is no interest in what we think. The interest only lies in how happy we are to be USED by people that couldn't give the first shit about us and make that clear every minute of every day.

(11,833 posts)Unreal. I've also seen posts like if everyone will just shut up then the problem will go away. I even read one that said something about the AA group being a club, as though no one has any different opinions, or that everyone in here is just making stuff up, stuff that no one else ever thinks about or discusses. Holy crap I can't believe how unbelievably out of touch some people are.

(11,833 posts)That 'moderator' made me laugh. Whoa! It was like a clinic in how NOT to moderate a discussion. He kept checking his cell phone & going 'What?' 'What?' to the protesters. Martin and Bernie are sitting there going wtf, are you going to ask me anything? And then the moderator is like 'Hold on! Hold on! I'm going to ask you something! Oh wait! Your time is up!'

(22,336 posts)is that people have always said here at DU, when they strongly criticized Obama, that no one should be above criticism. That it's wrong to act like a fan and be afraid of criticism. I don't get how that doesn't go for Sanders too. I plan to vote for Sanders, but he can and should be criticized. None of the candidates is perfect, particularly as far as anti-racism goes. They all can and should receive criticism.
I'm frustrated by how my fellow Sanders supporters are acting. They're behaving like tween fanboys/fangirls. He's a politician, not a celebrity crush.

the 'Ready for Anyone Else' guys seemed to jump right on him and some started the same negativity they'd had on Obama on HRC. In fact, in all the posts in which I was attacked for supporting PBO, were nothing in comparison to my gradually shifting to Clinton got the negativity sent my way.
I don't want to see Bernie's name or the avatar anymore. Because it's left such a foul taste. Then the going after posters like Strong, etc. It got worse, if possible. What is being done to bravenak worse than what ProSense got.
I decided instead of my original plan to vote for BS in the primary and 'whoever' in the general changed. I saw some saying the same thing, who were mocked by those saying they shouldn't be weak minded and pay attention to what people say on DU.
I don't agree because the level of hostility shown here must be in parts of his campaign. It sure showed up at NRN. And I don't want to live under their thumbs, know what I mean?
So I stopped IRL trying to get HRC suppoters to take a look at Bernie. I've decided to not vote in the primary in my state unless it becomes competitve, which it's not. I'll vote in the general.
The Democrats can run Bugs Bunny or Wiley Coyote and I'll vote for him. But what I see here at DU, has to represent some BS supporters IRL as well. I mean, look at NRN. The link Bobbie Jo posted about how a big guy tried to manhandle this little woman - that is scarey.
So I've lost interest. And some may have wanted that to happen. They want their way or the highway. I'm not going to genuflect when a daddy figure walks by. Fine, they can do it themselves.
